First you need a bachelors degree in nursing which takes at least 4 years.
Then you need a masters degree which takes 2-3 more years.
Total is about 7 years.

Clarification regarding how long it takes to become a NP
Someone commented on my facebook page that maybe I wasn't entirely clear about how long it takes to become an NP.
First you need a bachelors degree in nursing which takes at least 4 years.
Then you need a masters degree which takes 2-3 more years.
Total is about 7 years.
